Original Pattern Rubric

Below is the rubric on which you will be scored for the step unit. Please refer to it when planning.

5pts.
Student stays on rhythm for entire pattern and all moves.
Student completes all moves with near 100% accuracy making only 1 or 2 errors.
Student completes pattern from memory with no mistakes.
Pattern uses at least 5 moves, changes lead leg at repeat, and is 100% original.
4pts.
Student stays on rhythm for most of the pattern and most of the moves. May get off beat 2-3 times, but quickly finds the beat again.
Student completes moves up to 90% accuracy, with 3-5 errors.
Student completes pattern from memory with only 1-3 errors.
Pattern is original and uses 5 moves but does not change lead leg OR pattern is original and changes lead leg, but only uses 4 moves.
3pts.
Student stays on rhythm for some of the pattern and some of the moves. May get off beat 4-7 times, but usually finds the beat again.
Student completes moves with 75% accuracy, making 6-9 errors.
Student completes pattern from memory, but makes 4-5 errors.
Pattern is original, uses 4 moves and does not change lead leg OR pattern is original, changes lead leg, but only uses 3 moves.
2pts.
Student is on rhythm for little of the pattern and few of the moves. Gets off beat frequently but does not always find the beat again.
Student completes moves with 60% accuracy, making frequent errors.
Student attempts to complete the pattern from memory, but needs to follow a group mate, and is therefore slightly behind.
Pattern is heavily borrowed from a class pattern OR uses only 2 moves OR uses 3 moves without a lead change.
1pt.
Student is rarely, if ever, on beat. May have a hard time finding the beat throughout the entire pattern.
Student makes many errors in accuracy and does not appear to know the moves.
Student needs to use a paper in order to complete the pattern.
Pattern is a direct copy of class pattern OR only has 1 move OR uses 2 moves without lead change.
